Argos was build by Foroneas, son and succesor of the first king of Argos, Inahos, and maintains its name till today. It was named, according to the legend, under the name of the grandson of Foroneas, Argos. The whole town was protected by high walls, built during the kingship of Inahos.
The emblem of the town is the head of a wolf, representing the omnipotence of the first integrated town-state in the area of Medirerranean since it afforded great facilities, such as the castle Larisa and the theatre.
